South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 102 runs

 New Delhi: South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 102 runs in the fourth match of the ICC World Cup.


 South Africa had given Sri Lanka the biggest target in World Cup history of 428 runs to win, in response to which the Sri Lankan team scored 326 runs all out.


 For Sri Lanka, Kaushal Mendes 76, Charith Asalanka 79, Dasan Shanaka 68 and Kasan Rajitha 33 were the standouts.


 Earlier, South Africa, batting first, scored 428 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs, which is the highest total in the history of the World Cup.  Earlier in the 2015 World Cup, Australia scored 417 runs.


 South Africa's Vander Dussen scored 108, Adam Markram scored 106 and Quinton de Kock scored 100.

 Aiden Markram scored the fastest century in World Cup history.  He completed the century in 49 balls.  Earlier in the 2011 World Cup, Kevin and Brian scored a century in 50 balls.


 In the match being played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi, South Africa did not start well, captain Tamba Bovma returned to the pavilion after scoring just 8 runs, but Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dusen made a partnership of 204 runs for the second wicket.


 De Kock was dismissed for 100, his innings included 12 fours and 3 sixes, van der Dusen was dismissed for 108.  David Miller scored 39 not out, Henrik Klaasen scored 32 runs.


 For Sri Lanka, Mathisha Pathirana, Dinoth Velalage and Dilshan Madushanka took one wicket each.


 Earlier, Dasan Shanaka, the captain of the Sri Lankan team, won the toss and decided to field first. He said that there is a possibility of dew in the night, so he wanted to bowl. The team was affected by the injuries, but they are determined to win.


 On this occasion, South African captain Timba Bwuma said that they would have decided to field first after winning the toss, but they will try to put the opponent under pressure by giving a big target.
